'Continued US adventurism endangers peace, security in region'
SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has strongly condemned US airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, saying that America’s continued adventurism in West Asia will endanger peace and security in that region.

SAEDNEWS: The spokesman said that the airstrikes violated sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and Syria as well as international law and the United Nations Charter. In addition to supporting nearly four months of brutal Israeli attacks against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as anti-Yemen military operations that violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the strikes in Iraq and Syria were another act of adventurism and strategic mistake by the US government, which will escalate tensions and instability in the region, Kanaani further said.

The US military attacks in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen were aimed at serving the goals of the Zionist regime, he noted, adding that the attacks would increase the US engagement in the region and would overshadow the Israeli regime’s crimes in Gaza.

Kanaani warned against the further spillover of war in the region, saying that the continuation of such acts of adventurism is a threat to regional and international peace and security.

The Islamic Republic of Iran once again calls on the international community and the United Nations Security Council to fulfill their duty to prevent illegal and unilateral US attacks in the region and the spread of the war, he stressed.

As the Islamic Republic of Iran has stated before, the root causes of the ongoing crisis in the region is the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and its continued genocide of people there in light of unlimited support by the US, the spokesman said, emphasizing that stability and security will return to the region only after the root causes of the crisis are addressed (SOURCE: IRNA).
