Coup in Burkina Faso: What next after ouster of President Kaboré?
Saying they feel exposed in the face of an Islamist insurgency rampant across the Sahel region, soldiers in Burkina Faso have taken to national television to confirm the ousting of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.

But what will a coup change in yet another poor, landlocked nation where radicals seem to prey on weak institutions? Old images of the 2014 uprising in Burkina Faso are being widely shared on social media, falsely presented as footage of the current coup d'état in the country. We show you some examples in this edition of Truth or Fake.

A military coup has taken place in Burkina Faso. Soldiers took to the airwaves of the state broadcaster to announce that President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré had been deposed. The constitution has been suspended, the government and parliament dissolved. Land and air borders have been shut.
