Caravansaries were once an essential part of the past societies due to their vital significance for trade. Caravans would stay at night in these caravansaries and refresh themselves for continuing their path to the destination. Now these caravansaries serve as monuments that bespeak of the history of a nation.

Deyr Gachin Caravansary is one of the largest caravansaries in Iran that is located on the historical road of Rey to Qom at the center of Kavir National Park. This caravansary has been referred to in historical texts as Dezh Kurdshir, Dair Al Jas, Qasr Al Jas, Qasr Gach, Qalah Deir and Qalah Deir Kaj. The extent of the main site of the Deyr Gachin Caravansary reaches 12 thousand square meters where the main body of caravansary is constructed with almost 8 thousand square meters area. It includes 43 chambers, royal porch, backyard and 8 camel houses. It has two royal panoramas and 2 shops for stacking goods, a bath and a mosque.
