Duma chief: Sanctions, threats will halt developing Iran-Russia ties
SAEDNEWS: Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin said that Iran and Russia have been facing sanctions and challenges for a long time, and these threats do not hinder developing bilateral relations.

SAEDNEWS, TEHRNA: Volodin made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. He hailed Iran-Russia bilateral relations, saying that the State Duma will use all efforts to implement the decisions made in the joint commission meeting.

We are looking for new structures to develop parliamentary relations with Iran, he added.

He referred to the 20-year comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries, saying that the agreement does not only include new relations but will pave the ground for developing cooperation.

In fact, the main purpose of sanctions is to maintain the US hegemony in the world, but we defend our national sovereignty and determine our own destiny, he stated.

They are used to interfering in other countries affairs and want to use all the resources of the world to increase their wealth, Volodin said.

The United States is already damaged, but the European Union follows the US' policies, the European leaders are forced to get their energy and gas from non-Russian markets and at higher prices than before, which is very difficult for them, he noted (SOURCE: IRNA).
