Addressing reporters in a Monday briefing, Khatibzadeh pointed to a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and EU's deputy foreign policy chief Enrique Mora in Tehran on Thursday, saying that Iran explained some issues and the two sides agreed to resume talks in Brussels, Belgium, to negotiate on those nuclear issues which were not been resolved in Vienna, Austria, so far.
As to Mora's comments on restricted time for Iran to return to the nuclear talks, Khatibzadeh stated that Thursday talks were constructive and good as the Islamic Republic conveyed issues to the European coordinator and they reached a consensus about the continuation of the nuclear talks in Brussels within a few days.
The consensus has been a bilateral agreement, he said, adding that subjects, challenges and obstacles, which have not been decided on in Vienna, will be discussed in Brussels.
According to the spokesman, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani will definitely make comments on the resumption of nuclear talks between the Islamic Republic and other signatories to the nuclear agreement also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Asked about the potential replacement of Abbas Araqchi, Iran's former top nuclear negotiator, with Ali Bagheri Kani, the spokesman noted that the nuclear talks will be followed up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that the new negotiations team will be introduced in the future.
However, Bagheri Kani will visit Brussels to continue last week's talks and hold negotiations on issues raised in Tehran, Khatibzadeh noted (Source: IRNA).
