“At virtual JCPOA JC meeting, Iran & EU/E3+2 agreed to resume in-person talks in Vienna next Tues,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter page on Friday pointing to the JCPOA Joint Commission that was held virtually earlier on the day, adding that the Tuesday session will be focused on ‘rapidly’ finalizing the lifting of sanctions by the US.
He noted that once the sanctions are removed, Iran will stop its remedial measures.
Zarif also reacted to some reports on the US’ presence in the upcoming meeting, saying there won't be any Iran-US meeting as it would be "Unnecessary".
Wall Street Journal had earlier reported that a US delegation would take part at the meeting although they would not talk directly with Iranian diplomats.
The JCPOA Joint Commission was held on Friday online with the presence of member states.
In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri underlined that the US must return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lift all the unilateral sanctions it has imposed on Iran so far.
Referring to the US maximum pressure failure, Jahangiri said that the US must return to the JCPOA and lift the sanctions it has unilaterally imposed on Iran.
He stressed that the US is required to return to the JCPOA and lift sanctions, adding that a good condition will happen for the country's production, and the producers, who were active in production in the era of sanction, should be supported.
Due to the US economic war against Iran, he added that more than 2,500 items were banned from entering the country, which was an opportunity for domestic producers to be more active in the production (Source: Fars News).
