Tehran, SAEDNEWS: Deputy Head of NIOC for Development and Engineering Reza Dehghan said domestic companies conducted preliminary studies to develop the Azadegan oil field. In case the technical and financial propositions to the company were confirmed, contracts will then be discussed.
Dehghan pointed to the Chinese companies' interest in taking part in the development plan and said if the negotiations conclude, the results would be announced.
Azadegan oil field, the largest oil field in Iran and among the world's top ten, is located in the west of Karun River and on the joint border of Iran and Iraq.
The in situ oil is estimated at 32 billion barrels, and it is estimated that 1.760 billion barrels could be extracted (Source: Iran Press).
