Tehran, SAEDNEWS, Oct. 14: In a telephone conversation with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi, Zarif discussed regional and international developments as well as bilateral relations. Referring to the need for the Islamic Republic of Iran to use its foreign assets in Japan, FM Zarif condemned the US regime's illegal restrictions against Iran and called it a crime against humanity to prevent the Iranian people from buying medicine and food. Zarif stressed: "We expect the Japanese government to prevent this illegal US action within the framework of the commitment of countries to implement Security Council resolution 2231."FM Zarif also thanked Japan for its support of Iran in the fight against the coronavirus and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries in bilateral relations would expand. Regarding the Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he noted: "It is vital that we make every effort to ensure that other parties fulfill their obligations under this agreement." Iran’s top diplomat emphasized Tehran’s active and constructive role in creating peace and stability in the region, adding: "The presence of foreign forces not only does not help the region but also aggravates the problems." During the conversation, Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized strengthening cooperation in the fight against coronavirus and sending medical equipment using Iranian financial resources. The Japanese diplomat added that Japan's position in the effort to stabilize the Middle East has not changed, saying: "Japan has always supported and continues to support JCPOA." (Source: IranPress)
