Iran prepared to waive visa requirement for Word Cup visitors
Iran’s cultural heritage, handicrafts, and tourism minister says the country is prepared to waive the visa requirement for the visitors who could seek to travel from Qatar to the Islamic Republic during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Doha, SAEDNEWS: Ezzatollah Zarqami on Tuesday addressed the potentials of cooperation between the two sides regarding the international event, which is set to go underway from November 21 to December 18.

“The Qatar World Cup is a suitable opportunity for the presence of [international] spectators in Iran’s free zones and their visit to the country’s tourism capacities,” he said.

The official said the southern Iranian islands of Kish and Qeshm have already announced their readiness to host the visitors.

The islands possess the required infrastructures to accommodate the visitors and are close to the event’s venue, he said, adding that plans are underway to prepare some other locations across Iran for the occasion, too.

Jassim bin Saif al-Sulaiti, Qatar’s transport minister, traveled to Kish earlier in the week, signing agreements between the two sides, including for operations to link the Doha Flight Information Region (FIR) with the Tehran FIR. The countries also agreed to increase the number of flights between them.

Cooperation on the World Cup was the subject of one of 14 agreements Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi and Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed in late February in Doha during a visit by the Iranian chief executive (Source: PRESSTV).
