Iran Slams EU Sanctions over Russia-Ukraine War
SAEDNEWS: Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana’ani deplored a fresh round of EU sanctions on Iranian individuals and entities on bogus charges, cautioning the politically-motivated action will put more obstacles in ties between Tehran and the European Union.

SAEDNEWS: Kana’ani in a statement on Tuesday “strongly condemned” European Council’s “destructive move” and imposing sanctions against 6 persons and 5 entities involved in Iran’s development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

“The desperate efforts of some malicious actors with political motives in order to use the inefficient sanctions and spread of false information only create more self-made obstacles in the path of relations between the Islamic Republic and Europe and prove ineffective,” he said.

The spokesperson added the EU talks about international law and the United Nations Charter, while it is “practically turning a blind eye on Israel’s war crimes” and violating human rights and international humanitarian laws.

He further criticized EU for not making any tangible efforts to stop Israel’s “unquestionable genocide and ethnic cleansing” against the “oppressed Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.”

Kana’ani also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic's supports for efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Ukraine military conflict through peaceful means.

Tehran reserves the right to retaliate after the European Union imposed new sanctions against Iran in connection with the allegation, the diplomat concluded.

Kiev and its Western allies have repeatedly claimed that Tehran has provided Russia with weapons to be used in the war in Ukraine.

Tehran has reiterated that it will not help either side in the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and cautioned that arming Moscow or Kyiv will prolong the war between the two neighbors.

Iranian officials say the war between Russia and Ukraine has been the outcome of the hegemonic policies and excessive demands of the US and its allies, and call on the architects of the crisis and its supporters to reconsider their wrong attitudes.

Back in mid-March, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei dismissed Tehran's involvement in the war as sheer lie.

“We categorically deny any presence in the Ukraine war. And such a thing is not true at all,” he stressed.

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the US role in the Ukraine war, stating that America waged the Ukraine war in order to expand NATO to the East.

"And now while the people of Ukraine are in trouble and grappling with problems, America and its weapons manufacturing companies are making the most of this war in terms of profits. And for this reason, they stand in the way of the necessary things to end this war," he added.

Iranian Presdient Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi has also cautioned in September that the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a serious threat to the stability and security of nations.

The Iranian president described NATO's expansionist policies as one of the causes of insecurity in different parts of the world and stated, "As foreign policy thinkers, advise politicians and statesmen so that the people of different parts of the world do not bear the cost of their mistakes" (SOURCE: FARSNEWS).
