Iran to inaugurate West Asia's biggest radiopharmaceutical center: AEOI chief
Iran's nuclear chief has announced that the country looks forward to inaugurating the West Asia region's biggest radiopharmaceutical center in the next Iranian calendar year, which starts in March.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami made the remarks in an interview on Tuesday, during which he catalogued the Islamic Republic's achievements in the area.

"Research in [the field of] radiopharmaceuticals continues consistently. We are trying to expand [radiopharmaceuticals'] precision in the diagnostic area and [their] efficacy in the therapeutic area," he said.

As many as 50 pharmaceuticals were being currently distributed across the country, and around 20 more were going through their clinical research phase, Eslami noted.

He considered the diversity that the country enjoyed in the field of radiopharmaceuticals as a "monumental transformation."

Last May, Eslami revealed that the Islamic Republic used to export radiopharmaceuticals to nine countries across the world prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that the exports would be restored to normal now that the situation has been resolved.

Last July, a senior official with the Iranian nuclear agency announced that the country had turned into the biggest producer of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals across the region.
