Baku, SAEDNEWS, Oct. 28: After the meeting, Araqchi described his consultation with the President of Azerbaijan on Twitter as positive, constructive and wrote: "Today, in a long positive and constructive meeting, I presented the regional plan of Iran to help end the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Arriving in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on Tuesday night, Abbas Araqchi stated that Tehran is trying to establish peace in the region, referring to the initiative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Araqchi said that his visit to Baku is part of a periodic visit to those countries in the region that are influential in ending the recent conflicts between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. He noted that the main purpose of the visit is to present the initiative proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran to resolve this conflict and achieve a lasting peace between the two countries of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan which consequently leads to peace in the region. The Special Envoy of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran described the end of the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan as an important element in Iran's initiative and added: "Protecting the rights of minorities and humanitarian rights are another cornerstone of Iran's initiative to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."
Araqchi added that ending the conflict and starting talks with the help of influential countries aimed at ensuring peace is another key axis of the Islamic Republic of Iran's initiative. The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister also called the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan two friendly and neighboring countries and said: Iran has always supported the efforts of the Republic of Azerbaijan to liberate its occupied cities and regions.
Prior to his meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Araqchi had consulted with Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.The Special Envoy of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is scheduled to hold talks with the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev tonight, continuing his meetings with the officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
After meeting with Azerbaijani officials, Araqchi will travel to Moscow and Yerevan and then to Ankara to explain Iran's proposed initiative on resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict (Source: IranPress).
