Iranian chess player; makes history in FIDE Grand Prix Series 2022
The Iranian chess player defeated the Dutch superstar in the final round of the group stage of FIDE Grand Prix Series 2022 in Berlin, Germany.

Berlin, SAEDNEWS: The FIDE Grand Prix Chess Tournament is being held in Berlin with the participation of world-renowned chess players. Mohammad Amin Tabatabai, who was the first Iranian grandmaster to participate in the history of the Men's Grand Prix, broke the record for the best victory in the history of Iranian chess by defeating the super grand master Anish Giri from the Netherlands.

Anish Kumar Giri is a Dutch chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he completed the requirements for the title Grandmaster at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 2 days. FIDE awarded him the title in 2009. Giri is a four-time Dutch champion and won the Corus Chess B Group in 2010.

Tabatabai also managed to make history once again by reaching the second stage of this competition.

With this victory, the Iranian chess player gained 3.5 points and was at the top of the group.
