Iranian FM: Netanyahu Seeking Political Survival Through Gaza War
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that the survival of the Zionist regime depends on regional crises, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to preserve his political life through the war in the Gaza Strip.

SAEDNEWS: “Netanyahu seeks his own political life in war, and the survival of the Israeli regime relies on regional crises and spilling over of conflict,” Amir Abdollahian said on Wednesday, addressing a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on the situation in the Middle East, especially Gaza.

To this end, he added, the Zionist regime points fingers at Iran, “using a tactic of shifting blame”, stating, “Through the use of lies and disinformation, it cynically tries to divert international attention away from the ongoing genocide and massacres they commit with US support in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.”

The minister stressed that the killing of innocent civilians, especially women and children, had to be stopped immediately in the besieged enclave.

"War is not the solution. Security and stability cannot be achieved by resorting to the use of force and committing the crime of genocide in Gaza," he asserted.

The foreign minister pointed to one of the goals that Tel Aviv has purportedly been seeking through waging war, namely "total destruction" of the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas.

"That time will never come," Amir Abdollahian stated.

Expressing the reason for his assertion, the top diplomat stressed, "In the past 80 years, this nation (the Palestinian nation)’s will of steel has not weakened."

Israel has been carrying out heavy bombardment across the Gaza Strip since early October, killing more than 25,500 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, and wounding over 63,000 others, and levelling entire neighbourhoods. Thousands more are missing and feared buried under the rubble. Tel Aviv has also imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza, cutting off food, electricity, fuel and water supplies. The move has plunged the blockaded territory into a humanitarian crisis.

The United States has been providing Israel with unconditional military and political support in its onslaught against Gaza, arming Tel Aviv with more than 10,000 tons of military hardware. The US has also torpedoed the prospect of cessation of the Israeli aggression by stonewalling ratification of all UN Security Council resolutions that have been calling for a permanent ceasefire in the Israeli assault.

Iranian officials say the United States is waging a war on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through Israel, and stress if Washington’s political and military aid to Zionists is cut off, the regime won’t be able to proceed its military campaign against the blockaded territory.

Palestinian forces have in recent months taken Israel by surprise on the battlefield across the Gaza Strip by inflicting heavy losses on Israeli troops. The Palestinian resistance movements say they do not face a shortage of munitions and other military equipment, and are ready for a long battle with the Zionist regime.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir Abdollahian lashed out at the US for serving "as the practical supporter and main accomplice of the Israeli regime in its crimes”.

Washington has prevented the UNSC from effectively fulfilling its inherent duties in stopping the overt genocide of a nation and establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, he stressed, calling on the world body to act on its duty to pass a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the territory.

"...the US must compel the Israeli regime to stop the war and pull itself out of the trap that the Israeli regime has set to drag the US into direct conflict," the top diplomat continued.
