Iranian President, FM Offer Condolence over Death of Kuwait's Emir
SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdolahian expressed their condolences and sympathy over the death of Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

SAEDNEWS: Sheikh Nawaf passed away on Saturday at the age of 86. Kuwait’s crown prince and his half-brother, Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 83, was subsequently named new emir. President Rayeesi in a message on Saturday offered his condolences to Sheikh Meshaal and the country's government as well as its Muslim nation.

Sheikh Nawaf ruled the oil-rich state for just three years, taking over in September 2020 following the death of his half-brother, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Authorities gave no cause of death, but announced the start of a 40-day official mourning period and a three-day closure of government departments. The emir was admitted to the hospital in late November for unknown reasons.

In another message, Amir Abdollahian extended his condolences to the Kuwaiti nation and government on the loss of the Emir.

He also wished success, dignity and security for Kuwait (Source: FARSNEWS).
