Moscow, SAEDNEWS: The embassy has announced that this 11th batch comprising 200,000 doses of component two and 100,000 doses of component one vaccines. Russia has thus far delivered 1,300,000 doses of Sputnik Vaccines to Iran.
Meanwhile, the Russian Direct Investments Fund (RDIF) announced today (on Wednesday) that another type of Russian corona vaccine, titled Sputnik Light has been registered in Iran.
According to the RDIF, the objective of producing Sputnik Light has been accelerating the vaccination process and decreasing it from two, or three injections into just one injection and immunizing the society much faster.
Iran’s ambassador to Russia had earlier this month announced that Sputnik V vaccine’s second dose has some problems, which is the reason why the Russians are insisting on registering the first dose of their new Sputnik Light vaccine, which they say its injection ensures 80% immunity.
“It has been a while that the Russians are insisting that Iran should register the Sputnik Light vaccine in your country, and therefore, they had asked the Medical Sciences and Health Ministry to register that vaccine as soon as possible."
Jalali emphasized that what is produced in Iran as joint production of Iran and Russia under the Russian license should be sold by the Russians according to the terms of the signed contract.
He said that the embassy therefore requests the Health Ministry to announce its decision of Sputnik Light vaccine as soon as possible.
Jalali said that an Iranian pharmaceutical company, too, is currently involved in joint production of the Sputnik Light vaccines (Source: IRNA).
