Tehran, SAEDNEWS: Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks on Thursday, addressing a ceremony in the city of Qom to commemorate Iran’s top anti-terror General Qassem Soleimani and his companions, who were assassinated in a US terrorist attack in Iraq almost two years ago.
“We are not afraid of the enemy because we tower over them. They have tested us in the field, so we are not worried about the military power of the enemy,” Salami said.
“The more we look into the depths of the enemy, the more fatigue and helplessness we see in them, and we are sure that this process will continue,” he stated.
The enemy, Gen. Salami said, thought that by assassinating General Soleimani, it would be able to break the resistance, but the resistance forces continue the path of resistance with greater zeal.
General Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, was assassinated near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020, in a drone strike directly ordered by former US president Donald Trump. Soleimani’s companions, including Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), were also martyred in the attack.
Since the assassination, Iraqi resistance forces have ramped up pressure on the US military to leave their country, targeting American bases and forces on numerous occasions, and at one point pushing the Americans to ask them to “just leave us alone.”
Earlier this year, Baghdad and Washington reached an agreement on ending the presence of all US combat troops in Iraq by the end of the year.
The US military declared the end of its combat mission in Iraq this month, but resistance forces remain bent on expelling all American forces, including those who have stayed in the Arab country on the pretext of training Iraqi forces or playing an advisory role.
“The enemy, by assassinating Martyr Soleimani, sought to undermine the resistance front, but contrary to all of its equations and thanks to the blood of this martyr, the resistance has become stronger and more powerful than ever,” General Salami said.
He further stressed that the enemies of the Islamic Republic are declining, saying, “just look at the area of American influence and that of the [Islamic] Revolution compared to the past.”
“We are in the middle of a global battle. That we are calm is like the story of Ibrahim Khalilullah, on whom God cooled the fire,” said General Salami, referring to the record of the Holy Qur’an about Abraham who was thrown into a fire, which became “cool” and “peaceful” for him. “It is God’s will to cool the fire on the Islamic Revolution,” the IRGC commander said.
According to Gen. Salami, happiness comes through the way of jihad for Allah.
“Jihad in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain and Yemen means building a great Islamic geography. If this strength and power is not formed, the enemy will dominate us. Without Islamic rule and military power, it is impossible to dominate the enemy and carry out divine commands,” he said (Source: PRESSTV).
