Jamkaran Mosque is located at the eastern part of Qom City in an area of 250 acres, 6 kilometers of Kashan Road near a village called Jamkaran. This Mosque is today known as Jamkaran Mosque while in past it had such names as Sahib Al Zaman Mosque and Hassan Ibn Muslih Jamkarani Mosque. As to the history of Jamkaran Mosque, authorized traditional and historical sources note that this mosque was constructed upon the direct order of Twelfth Imam of Shia on Friday, 984 February 27 by Sheikh Afif and Salih Hassan Ibn Muslih Jamkarani. It is related that Imam Mahdi ordered Muslih to recommend people to read a four-rakah prayer in this Mosque composed of two independent two-rakah prayers, i.e. two-rakah prayer of salutation and two-rakah prayer of Sahib Al Zaman. It is believed that this specific prayer is equal to a two-rakah prayer in Kaaba.
