Vienna, SAEDNEWS: The Joint Commission meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) started at Palais Coburg in Vienna, Austria, a few minutes ago to follow up removal of anti-Iran sanctions and revival of the 2015 nuclear deal.
The meeting mainly focuses on removal of unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran among other issues.
The meeting is held at foreign ministry deputies and directors of political affairs level of Iran and the P4 + 1 Group which includes China, Russia, Germany, France and the UK.
The event is chaired by Iran top nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani and Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora.
Bagheri Kani arrived in Vienna a few hours ago. He held a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings with the P4 + 1 senior negotiators before the meeting commenced.
Earlier, the European Union said in a statement that the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is expected to focus on ways to remove the US unlawful sanctions on Iran.
The participants will also discuss the possibility of US return to a 2015 Iran nuclear deal and ways to ensure the full implementation of the accord by all sides.
Iranian top nuclear negotiator stipulated at the end of the seventh round that the eighth round can be the last one if other parties show seriousness and accept Iran’s rational stances and viewpoints on lifting of sanctions.
At the end of the seventh round of Vienna talks the European sides accepted Iran’s proposals and reached a consensus on a joint document, which has turned into a basis for future negotiations.
