USA, SAEDNEWS, Oct. 13: Nicole Kidman is sharing details of her marriage to Tom Cruise, which lasted from 1990 to 2001. During their time together, the pair appeared in Stanley Kubrick's 1999 thriller "Eyes Wide Shut," which many said contributed to the breakdown of their relationship, but in an interview with The New York Times published on Monday, Kidman dismissed the claims.
"We were happily married," the "Big Little Lies" star said. "We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to."
Kidman looked back fondly to their time working on the set of "Eyes Wide Shut," which was one of Kubrick's last films before he died at 70.
"We shot that for two years," she said. "We had two kids and were living in a trailer on the lot primarily, making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes. We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about our lives and enjoying our lives on set."
Kidman and Cruise adopted two children, Isabella, now 27, and Connor, now 25, together. After their split, Kidman married Keith Urban, with whom she shares daughters, Sunday, 12, and Faith, 9, according to Fox News. In 2006, Cruise married Katie Holmes, who filed for divorce in 2012. They share daughter, Suri, now 14, together.
This is not the first time Kidman has spoken about her marriage to Cruise. In a previous interview with Marie Claire, she recalled feeling "really damaged" after their split and unsure whether love and marriage "was ever going to happen to me." Despite the pain she felt, Kidman harbored no ill feelings towards Cruise.
"We were very, very tight and that's why we lasted 10 years which is a good amount of time, particularly when you get married at 23," she said, per CTV News. "That was a great relationship. I think it ran its course." (Source: News Max).
