Tehran, SAEDNEWS: “The first production line produces between 3.5 and 4 million doses per month, and by yesterday we had delivered 2.2 million doses to the health ministry, and we have produced another 5.5 to 6 million doses as well,” Jamshidi said on Monday.
"Our second line has a production capacity between 6 to 8 million doses, of which 100% of the equipment is ready and installed, and we have started the production process. We hope this line will be launched soon to produce around 12 million doses of coronavirus vaccine to meet a major part of the country's needs,” he added.
Jamshidi explained that the third line of Barekat factory has a capacity of producing 16 to 20mln doses of vaccine and its equipment is 100% ready, adding that its equipment will be fully installed by the next month.
“These three lines can cover the needs of the country and part of the needs of the region,” he said.
Jamshidi also said that the essays related to different phases of tests on COV-Iran Barekat vaccine will be released in renowned scientific magazines in the next few days.
Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki had said late last month that the HEIKO will provide the health ministry with 1.2mln doses of home-made coronavirus vaccine, COV-Iran Barekat, every week.
“We have paved a 20-year-long path in just a year in domestic production, and every week 1.2mln doses of Barekat vaccine will be delivered to the health ministry from this week,” Namaki said.
He noted that the vaccines co-produced with Russia and Pasteur vaccines will also be supplied soon, adding that Iran's Sputnik vaccine has been approved by Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology.
Namaki referred to different mutations of the novel coronavirus, saying that scientific centers around the world and scientific institutes in Iran and Cuba should prepare themselves to make new vaccines on logical and continued planning.
A senior Iranian medical official said in July that the country will present documents of tests made on its home-made coronavirus vaccine, COV-Iran Barekat, to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Registration of an Iran-made COVID-19 vaccine, COV-Iran Barekat, in the World Health Organization (WHO) is underway, Asqar Abdoli, a board member of Iran’s Pasteur Institute, said.
He added that Iran is providing the necessary documents to be presented to WHO.
Apart from presenting the documents, experts from Iran have to defend the documents in person, Abdoli said.
He added that some 2 million doses of the vaccine will be available to the Iranian health ministry next week.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei received a second dose of the indigenized COV-Iran Barekat coronavirus vaccine in July, his official website announced.
Ayatollah Khamenei had the first dose of Iranian vaccine COV-Iran Barekat injected earlier on June 25..
Simultaneously, the Shafa Pharmed pharmaceutical complex that has been working on the cure as part of a project led by the Headquarters for the Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order, a charitable organization, released an official report, verifying its high level of effectiveness.
Head of the COV-Iran Barekat vaccine project at the Headquarters for the Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order (HEIKO) Hassan Jalili announced that the vaccine has proved 93.5% efficiency against coronavirus.
“The results of the first (human trial) phase of the vaccine showed that it is safe and the results of the second phase on a group of people aged 18 to 75 years old showed that the blood serum of the vaccinated people has 93.5% ability to neutralize the coronavirus,” Jalili said.
He added that COV-Iran Barekat is also efficient on the British mutation, noting that the vaccine will be injected to the Iranian people across the country soon.
“We are also preparing the required documents for the World Health Organization, but the final documents will be sent when the data of the third phase of our clinical trial is completed, so at the moment we are preparing the data of the phases one and two at the request of the WHO. We will report the results to the WHO when the third phase is complete,” Jalili said.
He also added that 12 countries, including Asian, South American and one European country, have filed request to import COV-Iran Barekat from Iran (Source: FARS NEWS).
