Tehran, SAEDNEWS: Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf made the remarks upon his return to Iran after visiting Turkey for the 16th conference of the parliamentary union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, Turkey.
"I hope that Iran-Turkey comprehensive document on cooperation would be finalized during the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Tehran," he said.
About his Istanbul visit, the Iranian parliament speaker said that his visit took place at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart for two days.
During his stay in Turkey, Qalibaf held meetings with senior Turkish officials regarding Afghanistan and Palestine.
Qalibaf arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Wednesday evening to participate in the meeting of the 16th Parliamentary Union of OIC members.
Qalibaf and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a meeting in Turkey on Friday underlined the need to expand mutual cooperation in different fields.
During the meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul, the Iranian parliament speaker and the Turkish president explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral relations in various areas.
"I hope that the Vienna talks on the implementation of the nuclear agreement will be concluded fairly," President Erdoğan said during the meeting.
Erdoğan further urged the international organizations to help Iran in dealing with the influxes of Afghan refugees.
Qalibaf, for his part, underlined that the comprehensive document of cooperation between the two countries is being finalized, which is a symbol of a serious willingness of both nations to develop relations.
The Iranian parliament speaker further said that the big powers must learn that they should not try to impose their will on other countries.
He further said an agreement in the Vienna talks will be reached if the major western powers show respect for other countries' interests.
In a relevant development on Friday, Qalibaf in a meeting with a group of CEOs of large Turkish economic holdings and investors in Istanbul underlined that Iran prioritizes good relations with its neighbors.
At the beginning of the meeting, the CEOs of the Turkish holdings and investors presented a report on their problems and suggestions for the development of investments in Iran.
Qalibaf, in turn, said in the meeting that the problems brought up by the business people can be solved, adding, "In the government and parliament, we have prioritized the development of relations with neighbors and Islamic countries."
He pointed out that bilateral trade should not be postponed until the removal of the sanctions.
"Now there are better grounds for the development of trade and economic relations, and especially the policies that will be included in the Seventh Development Plan will help this important issue," he added.
In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Qalibaf underlined that Iran and Turkey have very good and friendly bilateral relations, and said that the comprehensive document on cooperation between the two countries is being finalized.
Qalibaf made the remarks at Tehran's International Mehrabad Airport before embarking on a trip to Turkey to attend the 16th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) conference.
The Iranian parliament speaker reiterated that during his two-day visit, the parliament speakers of the Islamic countries would convene to discuss the issue of Palestine, immigration, and the developments in Afghanistan.
He also said that he will hold bilateral talks with speakers of the parliaments of attending countries on the sidelines of the meeting.
"Iran and Turkey have very good and expandable bilateral relations," Qalibaf said, adding that the document on comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Turkey is being finalized, and "we will use the opportunity" that the two-day trip provides to talk to the Turkish authorities" in this regard for further coordination.
