President-Elect: Iran to Prioritize Expansion of Ties with Neighbors
Iran's President-elect Esyed Ebrahim Rayeesi in a telephone conversation with Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov underlined that broadening of relations with the neighbors will top the Islamic Republic's diplomatic agenda during his upcoming tenure.

Tehran, SAEDNEWS: "Expanding relations with neighbors is the first priority of the next Iranian government," Rayeesi said during the phone talk while congratulating the Turkmen president on Eid al-Adha and also Turkmenistan's Independence Day.

He also described bilateral relations as "more than just a neighboring country" and pointed to the two countries' vast potential for improving relations.

The Iranian president-elect further thanked the Turkmen President for inviting him to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit and the Caspian littoral states, as well as an official visit to the country.

Berdymukhamedov, too, congratulated Raisi on Eid ul-Adha.

Pointing to the deep historical and cultural roots of Tehran-Ashgabat relations, he said the relations between the two countries have been developed on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual interests.

The religious occasion of Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) is being celebrated by Muslims in Iran and all over the world.

The momentous religious occasion of Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), which is marked in honor of the Islamic imperative of self-abnegation, falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on the lunar calendar every year.

It commemorates Prophet Abraham’s acknowledging a divine order upon him to sacrifice his son. Upon submitting to God’s will, Ibrahim was exempted from performing the order and was offered a ram to sacrifice instead.

Iranians are celebrating the occasion on Wednesday, while in some other Muslim countries the celebrations began a day earlier and people marked the historical development by holding festive congregations at mosques and other religious centers and will continue to do so over the next few days. They also sacrifice livestock so they can offer votive food to the poor and their fellow Muslims (Source: FARS NEWS).
