President: Iran Supports S. Africa ICJ Bid Against Israel over Gaza War
SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi applauded South Africa’s move to file a genocide case against Israel over the Gaza conflict at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) amid global pushes for a ceasefire in the besieged strip.

SAEDNEWS: "South Africa's action in complaining about the crimes of the Zionist regime is a historic, lasting and commendable action and the Islamic Republic of Iran supports this smart and wise action," President Rayeesi said in a meeting with South Africa's new Ambassador to Tehran Francis Molloy on Sunday.

In late December, South Africa brought proceedings against Israel at the ICJ, alleging it had breached the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in its aerial and ground bombardment of the blockaded enclave which has so far killed more than 25,000 people, mainly children and women.

A two-day public hearing of South Africa’s case was held at The Hague in mid-January. A provisional ruling on the suspension of military activity before the main case starts is expected within weeks.

ICJ rulings are legally binding in theory, but they are usually unenforceable (SOURCE: FARSNEWS).
