Tehran, SAEDNEWS, Dec. 22: As the first steps are taken in this regard the representative of Tabriz in the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Reza Mir-Tajeddini proposed the professors and teachers of seminaries to run for the Presidential election. The proposal was welcomed as 136 out of 248 parliamentarians voted in favor, 85 against, and 11 abstentions.
According to Tajjeddini, the new law would suggest that those would be recognized as eligible candidates who had been appointed by three branches of government.
Tajjedini explained that the law would be applicable for the elites who would also like to apply for the presidential candidacy as well.
However, he elaborated though implicitly that the plan would attract those two who possess scientific and political knowledge with new ideas.
Iran's parliament in another move also voted in favor of the new law, allowing those who had been directly appointed by the Leader himself or having His Eminence's Direct decree to run for the presidential election as eligible candidates.
The new proposal was offered by the representative of Dashtestan, Ebrahim Rezaie on Tuesday.
