Windmills are located in tourist region of “Hawzdar” near Shahr-e Sookhteh insofar as a tourist can visit the symbol of systematic life in 2800 years ago by one hour walk in the desert. Windmills of Sistan region are a symbol of systematic life back in 2800 years ago in “Hawzdar” region 7 kilometers south of Shahr-e Sookhte the ancient city that took form since Sassanid era and continued its life up to Safavid era. The existence of windmills along with the castles was indeed a sign of rich civilization in this place that existed between Sistan and other points of the province and neighboring regions. Meanwhile the provincial office of cultural heritage has registered these works in the national list of ancient valuable monuments. No doubt, first origin of windmills of Sistan region is Iran’s grain stock. These windmills were made several thousands of years ago.
