SAEDNEWS: Following the defeats of Israel in the face of the people in Gaza and the Palestinian resistance front, “the frustration of the Zionist regime was exposed once again by another crime and the martyrdom of a sincere fighter”, Major General Mousavi said in a message.
Brigadier General Seyed Razi Mousavi was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike in the residential neighborhood of the Zeinabiyah district in the suburbs of Damascus.
Iran maintains an advisory mission in the war-ravaged country at the request of Damascus, helping it in the face of foreign-backed terrorism. Several members of the IRGC have so far been martyred in battle against terrorists in Syria.
Israel has been a key supporter of the terrorist groups during the war and has frequently targeted military positions inside Syria.
The Army chief also described the top general as one of the senior IRGC military advisers in Syria and a comrade of top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
